PumpWorks designs and assembles industrial pump packages for a wide range of services. Most of our work involves API 610 centrifugal pump packages but we also build packaged pump systems that include additional piping, valves, controls and instrumentation when the application calls for it.
Pump Packages & Packaged Pump Systems
We handle everything from small, straightforward units in the 5 hp range to large, high-speed multistage packages exceeding 8,000 hp. The common thread is that the equipment is selected, assembled and tested as a complete unit before it leaves our facility.
A basic pump package typically consists of an centrifugal pump and driver mounted on a baseplate. Controls are kept minimal and focused on reliable operation. Baseplates may be channel steel, non-metallic polymer or fully fabricated steel, depending on load, alignment requirements and site conditions.
Pump packages are more cost effective than packaged pump systems due to the benefits associated with space efficiencies, ease of installation, single-source responsibility, and streamlining of the manufacturing process.
A packaged pump system is comprised of one or more pumps and motors with additional components. They feature more complex control panels than our basic pump packages and may include any of the following components in any combination:
- Pumps/motors
- Piping Headers
- Valves
- Complex Pumping Controls
- Pressure gauges
- Flow/Pressure Meters
- Tanks
- All Wiring
Systems are typically mounted on specially fabricated baseplates or designed as pump skid packages as per customer specifications.
Packaged pump systems provide more ease of maintenance than pump packages. Whether of a complex design or built to accommodate limited footprint considerations, our packaged pumping systems are designed to allow easy access to all mechanical and electrical components.
Standard & Custom Pump Packages
PumpWorks builds both standard pump packages and custom pump packages.
Standard pump packages are used when flow, head, speed and materials fall within common ranges. These packages rely on established designs that have been used successfully in similar services.

Standard pump packages are often used for replacements, spares or non-critical-services where customization is limited.

The scope of a pump package can vary based on the application but most pump packages supplied by PumpWorks include the core mechanical and structural elements listed here:

Not every application requires all of these items, but defining scope early helps avoid gaps later in the project.
Pump Package Installation & Startup
PumpWorks provides installation and startup support for all pump packages and packaged pumping systems we build. When customers handle installation themselves we supply a complete installation, operation and maintenance manual along with custom CAD drawings.
Clear documentation and proper alignment during installation make a noticeable difference in long term reliability. Most startup issues can be traced back to small details that were missed early so this phase is important.
